I just bought two cubes at Target, they were actually $7 since there
was a sale (orig. $10), but these cubes are really bad!
They're the 25th anniversary type, with the shiny white stickers. I'm
really frustrated, as I've actually slid playing cards into all the
slots and kept them there for a couple hours, and now I'm putting
cards to try stretching the springs too. If doing this, then lubing
the cube (for a 2nd time) doesn't work out (so far, it's better, but
not much), then I'm just gonna return the other one.
Do cubes of the same brand and type vary in quality, or are all of the
25th anniversary ones poor like this? I ask because the first cube I
bought was $14, and it was also a 25th anniversary edition, but the
white face was not shiny, it was pure white. I gotta say, it was also
about 100 times better for speedcubing, all I had to do was apply
silicone spray, and it was a bona fide speedcube.
I actually found a site online where they sell that exact same type
(the good one). Should I buy that kind exclusively? Or is there any
other type that's even better for speedcubing? It's just frustrating
to deal with this cube that's so poor for speedcubing.
