Here is the command I am using to get a particular file: (wrapped)

wget -m --passive-ftp -T 15 -w 3 ftp://ftp:tim.locofungus.org@;
ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/updates
/7.2/en/os/i386/php-manual-4.0.6-12.i386.rpm

And here are the results of downloading it via a cron job:

I have now tried a couple of times manually and it has failed twice at about
1.6M

The connection dies at this point and no further traffic will go over it
until pppd is killed and restarted. (I am using iptables to nat the ftp
connection)

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening. It isn't the filesize
itself because I have just downloaded it to work and then used scp to
copy it to home

It appears that the connection doesn't actually drop. pppoa3, pppd are running
ifconfig looks normal. Just no traffic :-(

****
Also my disconnect/reconnect script doesn't seem to work properly after this
has happened. It detects that there is no traffic. Kills pppd. Reconnects.
Checks that all is ok and then exits. An hour later it does the same.
Eventually after about 6 hours of this (it ran once per hour, I have now
changed that to once per 5 mins) it seems to get back into sync, usually
with a new IP address but not always. (This could, of course, be a bug
somewhere in my script :-)

Tim.
