I think the problem is you're using a Triton II chipset which is known
to be a buggy USB chipset. (I don't remember exactly the Intel Chipset
reference, it may not be Triton II, take this information with care)

We have had such a problem long ago with an url we called the "black url"
perhaps there's a trace in the Mail list archive... not sure.
