It's been running smoothly for me without a hitch since about 11pm last
night :-)
I originally wrote this to see if it would fix some of my usb problems,
it didn't :-(
the rp-pppoe readmes suggest to use async mode on slow machines that
have problems with sync. I'm not exactly sure what conversions the
kernel has to make to talk HDLC but they are hidden from the user code.
Another advantage is that you can build a moduleless kernel for async.
Last time I looked, n_hdlc had to be built as a module. (I haven't
tried this yet but until the speedtouch came along I always ran a
moduleless kernel on my firewall)
