Hi Pat,
If you are running BT Openworld or similar in the UK, the DNS should be
automatically determined by PPP when it establishes the connection. This
generates a file "resolv.conf" in /etc/ppp. The simplest way to use this is
to place a symbolic link to it from "/etc/resolv.conf" which is where Linux
looks for the DNS information.
ln -s /etc/ppp/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf
This will ensure that your machine gets the new DNS information whenever the
PPP link is restarted.
Best regards,
Roger

Mr. William,
Thank you! I will get the needed info when I go home for lunch. I am
actually using 7.3, but see little difference other than some new/changed
settings in the kernel configuration. I know debug.and kdebug 1 are in the
adsl file. Do I need to manually set the DNS or can the modem poll as it
does in Windows?
Thanks Again,
Pat Quick
