Hi Folks! I'm yet another new speedtouch user for 24 hours now and in the end everything seems to function perfect :-) excepting some "pppoa3[3676]: CRC error in an AAL5 frame"
Initially I still had "demand" and "idle" options in etc/ppp/options from my old 56k-modem connection. i didn't delete them since the computer is running day and night and probably it's better to turn the connection off when unused. when trying to start the adsl-connection following message appears _only_ in syslog: May 21 19:37:38 verleihnix pppd[11587]: connect script is required for demand-dialling any ideas how this script can/should look like? another problem is that the usb-ohci kernel-module has to be reloaded between stopping and restarting pppd. else i get following output when typing /etc/init.d/speedtouch start: Starting ADSL connection:Another program/driver is already accessing the modem... failed: Cannot start modem_run. any solutions to this? some hopefully useful infos for developers: ------------------------------------------- I installed the package found at http://www.edv-bus.at/~david/speedtouch/speedtouch_1.0-1_i386.deb yesterday on my debian-woody system kernel: 2.4.17-586tsc (pentium-optimiced; already exchanged) running on 366Mhz AMD K6-2 and did anything acording to "SpeedTouch-HOWTO-en.txt.gz" except for one thing: I didn't change /etc/pppd/peers/adsl but made a new file called inode (name of my provider), placed the recommended options there (changed "pppoa2 -vpi 8 -vci 35" to "pppoa3 -c -m 1 -vpi 8 -vci 48" and #ed debugging-options) and changed the PEER= line in /etc/init.d/speedtouch. however pppd semmed to ignore that and though used peers/adsl (maybe sth. wrong in that start script?). following happens: pppoa2 starts to retry establishing the a connection accordig to wrong options and in some cases this caused some overload.
