Hey guys,

I keep having weird problems with my speedtouch ADSL modem. After a certain
amount of time, my connection dies out. You'd say that I could just unplug
and replug the modem, and it should work again, or that I should reboot
(which I do now). But I run this box as a server, so every reboot or
connection die-out results in server downtime, which I would prefer
not-to-have :D

When the connection died out, top shows these processes, amoung others
ofcourse:

63612 root -6 -20 1028K 500K usbsyn 0:00 0.00% 0.00% pppoa2
177 root 0 0 952K 200K ugenri 0:00 0.00% 0.00% modem_run
183 root 0 -20 1032K 260K ugenrb 0:18 0.00% 0.00% pppoa2
182 root 0 -20 1028K 56K ugenwb 0:16 0.00% 0.00% pppoa2

every now and then pppoa2 goes to the top of 'top', and shows like this:

63632 root -6 -20 1028K 500K usbsyn 0:00 1.00% 0.05% pppoa2

The PID keeps going up, after the connection died out.

I run this system:

arachna# uname -a
FreeBSD virtus.ath.cx 4.8-STABLE FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE #1: Thu May 1 20:02:48
CEST 2003 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/ARACHNA i386

My modem_run version is: modem_run version 1.2-beta1, but I updated to
1.2-beta1 because I was having the same kind of problems with previous
versions (1.0 and up).

The box works perfectly, it's a 200 Mhz Pentium II, 64 MB, 2 GB HDD with
enough space, the only problem is that my connection keeps dying out..

Any ideas on this are appreciated.. I hope you can help me with this
problem.
Please include me on the reply since I am not subscribed to this list.

Douwe
