Hi,

I am trying to setup the Speedtouch 330 ADSL modem under Fedora Core 3.
I have found plenty of tutorials describing the basic steps, but I have
stumbled on the (apparent) disparity between the various firmwares
available. These seem to be the alternatives:

a) Load the file "alcaudsl.sys" from the windows driver.
b) Load the file "firmware.bin" found on the net.
c) Load the file ZZZL_3.012 available from Thompson.
d) Use a "firmware extractor" to split ZZZL_3.012 into
two different files and load these two into the modem.

Now, all of these files have totally different sizes, ranging from the
70KB of the alcaudsl.sys to the more than 700KB of the ZZZL_3.012. It
seems odd that any will do the trick! Can someone please enlighten me
as to what is going on here?...

Thanks in advance for any help!
Regards,
Jean
