I have an oddity which might be related - I have to unplug my modem at
startup; then I have to watch the startup messages, and plug my modem
inti the USB port after the "Initialising hardware ..." message, but
before the "Checking for new hardware ..." message.
My bootup messages still say something like "Block write failed for
USB_DEVFS" or something of that sort, but my modem is picked up by the
USB interface and the script connects me correctly.
With me I think I have problems with the USB bridge and querying
hardware on it, if I don't "jerk" the usb hotplugging into life by
plugging in the modem after it has woken up then the light remains
flashing red and the script cannot find a speedtouch modem.
Hope this is of some use
regards
emyr
