This page refers to the user space drivers when running slack 10.1
with the default kernel.
I am a slackware user have not installed 10.1 out of the box
but upgraded my system every 1-2 weeks with slack-current.

I am not using hotplug but the problems I have had are that
modem_run is broken when using kernel 2.4.28 and 2.4.29,
it is solved again in 2.4.30pre2.

Slackware 10.1 comes with a vanilla 2.4.29 kernel so
using the user space drivers might be be broken due
to the fact that modem_rum does not work correctly.
