Waiting forever is a behavior I have seen in all PPPoA client I have tested when
no answer is available. Even after LCP timeout, pppd don't stop.
I have tested with PPPoA plugin patch from 2.4.1, 2.4.2, with pppoa3 and pppoa
(eagle-usb).
Sometime it was after an old usb hardware related problem, sometime for unknow
reason.

This does not explain why you have this problem.
Are you certain of your VPI/VCI?
