Hi Ed, try adding "debug" to your pppd options. That way you will get more info if it happens again. Also, if you recompile your kernel with CONFIG_USB_DEBUG=y you may get some helpful messages from the driver. I don't know what went wrong. Replugging the modem (a) resets the modem, and (b) reinitialises the driver's internal structures. Either of these could have fixed things up.
