I don't think unbinding and binding the driver again is enought to allow load of
the firmware again. Once it is loaded, you have to unpower the modem from :
- hardware way :
 unplug the modem
or
- software way :
 unload the usb controller {uhci,ehci,ohci}-hcd  and load again
