Hi Michiel,
Hi Duncan,
> At boot the firmware is detected by the modem,
how do you know this?
well, I guess I said it wrong. The firmware is detected by the kernel. I
know this, because at bootup I get the messages:
usb 3-2: found stage 1 firmware speedtch-1.bin
usb 3-2: found stage 2 firmware speedtch-2.bin
just like the LFS website told me.
> but I get this suspicious message:
> /etc/hotplug/usb/speedtouch: line 14: /var/run/usb/%proc%bus%usb%003%003:
> No such file or directory
The LFS web-page doesn't mention a /etc/hotplug/usb/speedtouch file. Where did
it
come from and what does it contain?
I think it is there, because I have some feature compiled in the kernel
which detects hotpluggable devices. I think this is just the speedtouch
driver, it is a script written by Benoit Papillault at 13/05/2005. I can't
find that file anywhere else in my file system.
Hard to say without seeing what /etc/hotplug/usb/speedtouch is trying to do. My
guess is that usbfs is not mounted. Try doing (as root):
mount -t usbfs usbfs /proc/bus/usb
mount shows me that usbfs is already mounted on /prc/bus/usb so
I guess that can't be the problem. I think the modem is up and running
because a nas0 device is created. I guess packets are even sent
already, since I think PADI packets are sent before PADO packets
are supposed to arrive with the PPPoE protocol right?
Ciao,
D.
Bye, Michiel.
