John, Joe, etc., If you're redoing your rear brakes, it might be beneficial to clean those brake adjusters. They attract a lot of crud over the years. Mine were so bad that they were really difficult to adjust, but dismantling and cleaning did wonders. They're super easy to turn now (comparitively speaking). Here's a link that may help.

The adjuster turns in 90 degree increments but continues to turn until the shoes are spread out. The reason is because the adjuster is not a cone but a modified cone with 4 distinct sides.
