My method, which works pretty well is to put an extension bar on my socket, but importantly don't engage the square head of the extension all the way into the socket so that it clicks home. Just nestle it into the top, that way you can have it at just enough angle to get 'round the manifold, but can still use it to turn the socket! Cheers Tim
