  Basically, it sounds like the valve may not be closing all
the way.  This could be due to improper adjustment, or could
be crud buildup on the seat of the valve.  If you have the
engine up to operating temp, you should not be able to hold
and hardly touch the input hose to the heater valve.  If the
valve is working, it should be very cool on the output side
of the valve.  You could also try placing a thermometer on both
hoses.  If there isn't a significant difference in the temps,
then the valve is bad.  If there is a large difference in temps.
then you are getting heat into the cockpit from various holes
in the firewall - where the gromets have/are failing, around the
emergency brake handle, and the xmission tunnel to firewall
interface.
