This is a good debate, and I may be putting my neck on the line here. I am rebuilding a 1965/66 Mk2 Spit from a pile of bits. I have a 12V system I have removed from a 1966 Herald 1200, including starter. Were Spits/ Heralds ever 6V? My thoughts are that a 12V coil would work in a 6V system and vice versa a 6V coil in a 12V system would just draw a lot more current and may get hot a 12V coil in a 6V.system would draw enough current and you get a weak spark. The car would probably run with both though. If it draws around 3A worth of current then that is all you need and all is fine. Jamie
