Here is the official data on the coils: MK III: Lucas #5195 3.1 to 3.5 ohms MK IV: Lucas #45232 1.43 to 1.58 ohms 1500: Lucas #45243 1.30 to 1.45 ohms
As you can see, a 6-volt ballasted coil has a lower primary resistance. BTW, to accurately measure these low resistance values, you need a decent digital meter.
