Hi Ronny,
There is a UJ type coupling available as a direct replacement for the
original disc type. Cost is about the same for both types in the UK, circa
#25.00.
I don't recommend using this coupling design together with alloy steering
rack mounts. This combination will transmit too much vibration. I have one
customer who suggested using a solid alloy rack mount on the passenger side,
with a conventional rubber one on the drivers side with the UJ coupling. He
was very happy with this combination, but I have not tried this for myself.
In all other circumstances I can recommend the UJ coupling without
reservation.
