[SPOC] timing chain

I have a 93SC2 with 122K miles on it. how do I know if I need to service/replace my timing chain. Someoene told me that I might need to replace my timing chain cuz my saturn idles at 1100 rpm? Besides checking for vaccum leacks, how can I fix this idling problem? IAC? the check engine light hasn't come up yet.     Thanks
