thanks justin and ryan...
that's all i needed to make sure i don't spend $100 on parts I don't need.
Justin mine only drinks 1 quart/1k miles... not bad eh??!
Ryan I will try to clean my TB like you suggested... Idle control screw? is that inside the IAC? or is that the screw outside of the TB?--> mine is backed out all the way and not even touching the black TB lever (don't know if there is a name for it)

The timin chain will make lots of rattling noise before it goes bad... you'll hear it... and then you replace the chain, tensioner, and guides.

As for high idle, take off the TB and clean it thoroughly (remove the TPS and IAC sensors) with carb+choke cleaner or brake cleaner, and re-install and re-set the idle control screw so it doesnt idle so high (maybe around 900)

Subject: [SPOC] timing chain

I have a 93SC2 with 122K miles on it.
how do I know if I need to service/replace my timing chain.
Someoene told me that I might need to replace my timing chain cuz my saturn idles at 1100 rpm?
Besides checking for vaccum leacks, how can I fix this idling problem?
IAC? the check engine light hasn't come up yet.

Thanks
