I managed to meet most of the Pueblo, Colorado police force all at one time!

I was checking out the yard in Pueblo one Saturday morning in 1974. I had a
new Pentax ES II with a long lens and my new crystal controlled scanner
listening to the Santa Fe ( I think). Unfortunately, I also had a
camouflage jacket that I had traded to get from a Special Forces trooper
while In Viet Nam. I guess, I might not have shaved that morning.

I was happily shooting away when I heard sirens from many directions.
Oddly, traffic on the overpass I was on stopped. I next noticed police cars
and flashing lights on each end of the bridge. At this point, I think I
realized that something strange was going on. That thought was crystallized
when an officer with a shotgun started walking toward me.

As he got closer, he shouted "What are you doing?"
In true rail fan fashion, I respond "Watching trains"

This is greeted with skepticism and a cautious approach weapon at the ready

"Do you have a gun" he asks "NO" I respond.

Things are calming down when the scanner proceeds to start talking.

The officer comes back to full alert and says "What are you listening to?"
"Trains" I respond weakly --- More skepticism!

This whole thing ends when he finally creeps close enough for me to show him
that I am a real Major in the real Army and that the GUN reported by a
passing motorist is really my new camera and that the guy dressed as a
terrorist is really just me.
