Seasons Greetings Folks,

I thought I would try starting a new thread in regards to strange or odd
occurrences any of
you may have had over your years of shooting.

While looking through some of my medium format color negatives, I was
reminded of two
shots that I took a couple of years ago of some Canadian Pacific action. I
don't use medium
format that regularly, so the cameras often sit weeks at a time before a
roll will get finished.

The two shots in question were consecutive frames on one roll. The first was
just an
ordinary 3/4 wedge of a CP intermodal led by a "Plain Jane" SD40-2. Nothing
special.
Well, the next time I used the medium format camera was about 6 weeks later
when CP
had fairly spectacular side swipe derailment on there mainline. The lead
locomotive was a
SD40-2.

It wasn't until the roll was developed, that I realized that the SD40-2's in
both pictures were
one in the same CP SD40-2 #5685, that hasn't run another trip since the
accident and
probably never will. Ironic.

Has anybody else experienced something odd or ironic while railfanning?

All the best,

Jeff Robertson
