Well, it's more than half way through the SOTM voting for this next coming month's shot, and there is a four way tie with only two votes on each one, and not many other votes. Guys, how silly is this? I'm sorry, but I don't have time for this, and obviously few people are interested. It is not worth my time or effort to write and update a separate SOTM web page(s) for the SPORRS site from such a dismal response, when all it amounts to is reposting each shot that got one vote, on a different page of the site, and there is no sense even trying to figure what to do with a four way tie, which directly results from so few votes. So it's still the middle of the week, but even if the vote tally doubles by Saturday night, we still won't have as many votes as last month (32).
I'll either post the SOTM results here or list them somewhere on the site. I get the idea that without constant reminders, voting will not occur, and I quite frankly have no interest in reminding anyone to do anything so trivial as to have fun. If this posting spurs some additional voting, that's part of my point. For the people that vote, thanks for your support. If you still want to talk about your favorite site shots or give your own rendition of your 'top list' after this next month's results, then you are always welcome to do so on this list. I have to be realistic here. until we have 1000 subscribers on this list, we wouldn't have enough votes to get accurate results at the current response level. And 1000 subscribers would exceed my server's monthly allotted band width to distribute 1000 mails for each posting (when you post one message to the list, that's currently 130 messages going through my server, and when you CC: stuff for no reason, that's more - not to mention bouncing mail from people that change their address and don't unsubscribe, who's addresses I have to remove manually), which at the current response level, would be distributed mostly to subscribed addresses that participate only by using bandwidth. Kind of makes a guy start thinking about subscription fees, you know it? SPORRS needs an overhaul. There are some changes to this list I wanted to make anyway, such as changing the reply addresses on the posts to the SPORRS list address instead of the individual author's addresses. And I still need names to go with some of these phantom E-mail addresses. One solution is obviously to delete the current SPORRS mailing list address file, and then make a new one where a name is required with the address for subscriptions. Then all of the records here would be current as each of you still interested resubscribe. I'll work on that in my spare time. In other works, it looks like I have to make you do something in order for you to do it, and to me, that is utter BS, and certainly no fun for me, and fun was the original purpose for this list. Changes coming. I've got to fix this thing now before it gets any more inconvenient for me and ends up like Jim's Foamer list did. This list is here for you guys, not just so I can run a server to distribute mail to cyberspace.
