Hi Dana,

I checked out the site, but had a hard time telling what pictures were
where. You ought to consider putting some type of caption on them to at
least identify the location.

The road that I had intended on following to the loop was from the south
side of the loops, off of Pilot Road to Montello. I probably would have
gone, but I went to find someone to help a fellow who hit a rock that,
ironically enough, had been dug up by a road grader working the area, and
crashed into a ditch. He wanted me to drive him back to Montello, but a 30
mile bouncing dirt ride in the 2 wheel rental was enough to scare me off.
I went and found him some help though, hopefully everything turned out O.K.
After that, I was very reluctant to push forward up to the loops with the
rental, even though I had my trusty laptop with the Delorme Street Atlas on
it.

Hopefully, more business trips out to Salt Lake will allow me some more
time to explore the area. I actually had planned to go down to Shafter,
but for some reason I didn't. They were running some trains on the BHP
Nevada Railroad, however, they were at the south end. Guess they have a
repeater radio, 'cause I could here them quite clearly from I-80.
