John I suspect the dropping of the SOTM was coming for sometime, but
I don't think it has to be permanently gone. I think the concept of
getting some good feed back is still available to those of us who chose
to ride out the change. I agree that the response rate is about the
norm for similar web pages, but I think Dave envisioned that if you're
serious enough to subscribe to a rather specialized web site the numbers
should be higher. I don't think the forum is elitist (I know you never
said it, nor implied it) because I've seen some of the veterans go back
and readdress issues that were discussed in the past (e.g., Fuji and
Kodak). Newer subscribers missed these earlier messages and thus didn't
have the perspective to roll with the verbal jousting. It doesn't
matter if its railroad or needle point almost all of us cyber users
enjoy a witty discussion and a good humored zing.

John I'd like some more information about those Newtonville shots of
yours, particularly the traffic volume and exact locations (I haven't
found the Newtonville on my maps yet). I'd like to take a week and
shoot some Canadian stuff around in Ontario. I'm flirting with the
prospect of going up to Portage de Prairie and Sioux Lookout so if
you've got any suggestions or information please drop me a line. I'm
also considering a Minnesota/Wisconsin trip that might carry me up to
the Arrowhead/Mining area of Northern Minnesota in late August.
