Hey Bob, just out of curiosity, was the camera damage from the lens being mounted on it when it hit? > The ever frugal J. Parker > Lamb bought a 6006 and is very pleased... I don't have a 6006, but while out shooting with a friend who does, I noticed how easy it was to manually focus with it on a moving train. So I was curious and started swapping his 6006 and my F5 back and forth on the telephoto and discovered that the 6006 has a brighter focusing screen (not always good without contrast, but...) and it had enough contrast to read numberboards clearly at a good distance with a 300mm. Not a bad little camera, but you have to watch out now, the 6006 is no longer made in Japan (actually I think Nikon just discontinued it) - the latest ones are made in China, like some of their latest consumer lenses like the current AF 50mm 1.8. Says right on the lens. Damn I hate these little plastic lenses. BTW, my Nikon 50mm 1.4 AF, and the manual focus 50mm 1.4 AIS that I had before it have and had more flare shooting into the sun than my 50mm 1.8 AIS did. I like the 1.4 because it's brighter to manually focus with, but I need to shoot with it stopped down to at least F 4.0 to get good edge to edge sharpness (not depth of field, I'm talking like on a flat brick wall straight at it - lens test I do anyway to see if my lenses have pincushion or barrel distortion - find a brick wall that wasn't laid on a Friday afternoon). :) Dave Cohen Photographer, Member ASMP Action Photographic Webmaster [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.anet-stl.com/acphotog/home/ ======================================================= -> SPORRS: 'Serious Photographers Of Railroad Related Subjects' -> Web Site: http://www.anet-stl.com/acphotog/sporrs/ -> Message © 1998 SPORRS® - All Rights Reserved =======================================================
