Greg, Caught your message, and since I only live 30 miles from Savanna, I can give you the lowdown. Early mornings are good for westbounds (3-5 most days) on the BNSF, with a few eastbounds. Old 42 and 48 are through usually between 10 and noon. Stuff on an off the Peavine to Galesburg tends to run in spurts. But, there are usually two eastbound manifests through late morning through the afternoon. Ore extras to and from Granite City run at random. In the afternoon, you'll have old 41, 11 and 3 between 2 and 6. You'll also get doublestacks, which tend to run heavier toward the weekends. The CN stuff shows up anytime. As for IMRL, it's pretty unpredictable, though crews for 263/264 are based out of Savanna, so if you catch either of those, you'll have some time to get shots in and around Savanna. The NS auto trains show up anytime, as well as the stuff along the River line at Sabula. By the way, there is a detector on the BNSF at 148 (north of Savanna) and at 133 on the C&I. Hope this helps, Andrew S. Nelson Also a displaced cheesehead (Wausau) ======================================================= -> SPORRS: 'Serious Photographers Of Railroad Related Subjects' -> Web Site: http://www.anet-stl.com/acphotog/sporrs/ -> Message © 1998 SPORRS® - All Rights Reserved =======================================================
