Moot right that's a point of interest, Mote is a designer/layout tech. and
Moots is a very high quality bicycle they make across the street.
Confused as usual. Thanks George!
Back to the 1985 Grid dry system, If they used QR or FR heads NFPA 25 say's
its time to start sample testing those! Maybe a C.O. you might have missed?
Or if there are any Dry heads they're more than 10 years past due for
testing.

Um, Thom, it's MOOT. Mote (Richard) is a designer extraordinaire here.
Oh, sorry- Engineering Technician Extraordinaire.
But that's not why I wrote- Here in PA we were under the '81 code until
2004. Without an understanding AHJ we didn't have ESFR, Residential, and
darn I lost my opportunity to install a last couple dry grids.
As everyone else opens up their 2007 #13's, we get to open the '02 version
that kicked in 1/1/07 here in PA. On the plus side, we can buy our copies
used, and the Errata are usually cleaned up by the time we need that
edition.
So what's in widespread use nationwide and what applies to a particular
project are two way different things- and that's not even bringing the
military into it!

The other side of this "Sticky" question is what code the AHj was using at
the time the design/layout and installation were approved. In 1985, it
could
have been a much older version of 13. (This is Mote, with David's info
below
but always worth remembering.)
The follow up is always "It was approved by the AHJ" at the time, so did
they knowingly make an AHJ allowed "Exception" or simply miss it in
review?
If review was even required?
Every "OLD" system seems to create as many questions as opportunities.
