We have mixed opinions in local jurisdictions. One of them supposedly has a
paper trail that allows multiple unit bldgs to be protected in accordance
1ith 13D if sufficiently separated. The adjacent county has recently adopted
the same philosophy so it is spreading.

I am pretty sure the trail comes from the commentary in the IBC rather than
from the code itself.

Subject: 3 unit 13D follow-up

Thank you to those who responded to the original post. However, I did not
get a response regarding other cities allowing the 3 unit to install 13D in
each unit, anyone out there know of any?

Also, how would others protect this building if not by the above mentioned?
13R with FDC?

Looking forward to your responses.

Owen Evans
