If I recall, on one project with a sidewalk siamese where we couldn't
use regular DI for the underground portion, we used schedule 40
galvanized with some kind of wrap and primer over. This might work in
this situation. The drainage is still a problem.

CPVC is not listed for dry pipe use...but why?
(1) is this for just overhead piping where the water in pipe of a
wet-pipe system will help keep the pipe from failing during a fire?
(2) or is this because air and CPVC are not compatible?
(3) or because the air will leak out thru the CPVC?
(4) some other unknown reason?
CPVC is listed for underground use...so why not use the CPVC if
reason (1) above is the only problem. I don't know why CPVC is not
listed for dry pipe systems, and I'm not the AHJ on this
project...so I'm just wondering out loud.

I've got a outdoor amphitheatre that needs sprinkler protection. The
only option allowed to get from the controls (adjacent heated building)
to the arch on the amphitheatre is to go underground. We will be using
galvanized pipe for the dry system for the amphitheatre.
The question is what pipe should I spec for the dry underground? Can
(should) I use galvanized? Do you sleeve it? Any other suggestions?
