Sorry I meant the point of connection. It seems to be an issue on a lot of
current jobs. The structural people do not really care much about NFPA 13
and its requirements they seem more interested in actual weight applied. On
a current project the notes call for a brace if the hanger is not within 3"
of the panel point and there is a note about a maximum 200 pound load even
with the brace or at the panel point. They are not convinced the 250 pounds
of addition safety applies to their design. It seems silly but how do I get
my system compliant without trapeze hangers to split the load. I bet the
review of the seismic will be even more fun.

The hanger must carry 5 times the weight of the water filled pipe
plus 250 lb. The point of attachment is just the weight if the pipe
plus 250 (could say 1 times the weight of the pipe).

As for the 250 no longer being needed with OSHA requirements, we
tried a proposal deleting it and the TC beat us about the head and
shoulders. It is here to stay.
