If anyone still remembers Inspectors test valves used to be installed 7'-0"
AFF.(Still a part of many Military spec.'s) Well we've always used that as a
reasonable height for floor control valves. Too high for most children to
play with, but within the reach of an adult. (Except of course those
vertically challenged.) Above the typical 6'-8" door so door swing doesn't
come into play. We set them a little higher if the doors are 7'-0".

Subject: Floor control valves
I'd asked this previously, but got zero responses.
What's the ideal height within a stairway to install the floor control
valve assembly? The lower they're installed, the odds of them being
tampered with increases. The higher they're installed, the more it could
delay shutting down the sprinkler system following a fire or accidental
discharge. Any horror stories one way or the other?
