Regarding gym VS multipurpose. A gym would be considered light hazard IMO. A
crafts fair or display of combustibles becomes ordinary hazard. My problem
is getting the owner to tell us what possible uses there will be. The
A/Engineer says it is a gym and its light hazard. What say the forum?

Ed,

We have a number of fully sprinklered schools and community centers in our
jurisdiction with no incidents to date.

As a sidebar most are used as multipurpose; gyms, sporting events, large
meetings, craft fairs.............

Subject: Sprinklers in gymnasium

Any thoughts about types of sprinklers or protection for them in a school
gymnasium? I can visualize kids shooting basketballs at them.
