1) Yes
2) Yes

Although the workload will increase the increase will be incremental
since we currently conduct plan review and inspection of all homes.
Standardization and prescription, i.e. replicated housing, will result
in increased productivity which interestly is in line with the home
building industry.

Custom homes take more time but that's nothing new since these
frequently exceed height and area limitations neccesitating sprinklers
and or having less stringent time lines so there already in the hopper.

In New Jersey we are fortunate to have interlocal agreements for shared
services which allows muncipalities to draw resources.

Wirsbo appears to be very interested in making sure that AHJ's have the
knowledge and resources to make multipurpose sprinkler systems a
reality.

I know this has been beaten beyond death, but it's a very interesting
topic.

I'd like to hear from the AHJ's. Do you have the manpower to adequately
review plans and inspect every residential installation? Some of you
require a bucket test, some don't. Most require a rough-in inspection
prior to sheetrock, some don't. All these things take time and I know
most of your departments don't have an overabundance of manpower.

When more contractors (plumbers or sprinkies) enter the market, there's
going to be a learning curve for the newbies. Do you guys feel
comfortable being very short-handed AND playing teacher at the same
time?
