You only need a strainer if the K-factor is LESS THAN 2.8.  You don't
need one for 2.8 or higher.

Right off the top of my head, shiny though it may be in spots, you would
probably lose any gains because you'll need a strainer for a 2.8K head.
Extra pressure loss.
