Actually it's not "Out Dated" just modified by the water purveyor
requirements for Backflow prevention. If your system has only a double check
BFP then most, (NOT ALL) water purveyors will not let you put additives in
the pipe. If you system has an RPZ BFP then you can put anything you like in
the pipe. I've always been interested if the MIC guys change the BFP to an
RPZ before they treat the system for MIC. Obviously they put in additives in
the system which is connected to the water purveyors system. Do they recalc.
the systems too, for the additional friction loss?

The anti-freeze is a good idea but one that is outdated. Water purveyors do
not permit additives in sprinkler systems.
