Many thanks, gentlemen - an inexhaustible resource of information and
knowledge - as usual !

Except supposedly the fabrication process locally destroys the

And the other components like weld-o-lets, heads, valves and mech-

Plastic/steel what another future headache.

Subject: RE: MIC
Allied and most other steel pipe mfrs here in the US are coating
their pipe
with an anti-MIC coating.
I'm sure details are available at their website, I think Allied was
first.
Subsequently, Blazemaster and others became aware that this anti-MIC
coating
is detrimental to CPVC. I understand the good news is you won't have
MIC in
the steel and IF it reacts, it does so early in the game so you can
replace
the CPVC before your next financials are done, so you can match
expenses
with no revenue accurately.
Seriously, I understand there IS a reaction.
We'll need to know what is the priority of the problems-
If 30% of steel pipe got MIC and only .00001 % of CPVC had allergies
from
the coating, you'd use the coating.
If the numbers are reversed, you'd buy uncoated pipe and use it.
We're having to consider keeping uncoated pipe for use on systems
with CPVC
(sigh)
Another set of items to maintain and track.
I doubt there is a lot of empirical data yet, and this news is all
pretty
recent. So until there is more data, those that would study it can't
draw
much in the way of conclusions worth much.
So now its just another item to aid insomnia.....
Cheers!

Colleagues
I have received an enquiry from a UK company as follows:
" Has anyone heard of "anti MIC chemical coatings" for metal sprinkler
systems?"
Can anyone help ?
Thanks
