Ron, not sure what you mean. The sprinkler is a sidewall above the
sliding glass doors and the damage was on the floor and off to the side
(about 5 feet or so). Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I don't think the
sprinkler would in it's location would cause rot in a remote location.

Are you sure that the damage isn't the result of rot caused by the
sprinkler just being there? Sure doesn't seem like enough damage for a
fire }:-)
