Steve, I have used the KY-Pipe Surge program to conduct surge pressure transit analysis for a large loss in order to defend the sprinkler contractor in US Federal Court. This is the only surge program that has had significant peer review and realistically models the pressure wave effects including the additional pressure that results from the pressure wave crossing itself. It can also model pressure surge chambers to determine the effects that a curge chamber has on the system. If you are using the KY Pipe hydraulic program it is easy to import, however it is not a problem with building a model from scratch. Read the software manual because you will need to know opening times for check valves, OS&Y valves and all related valves.
