I would change this a bit to say...if you had a duct that was 2' wide and 4' long (or longer), would you place sprinklers underneath that keeping your current distances? I would argue that the light does not create an issue unless they are continuous down the hallway and the hall is only 3' wide (making the light a true obstruction to the floor area).
