Cliff, Hey man what's up. I think the concern is that the 4' maybe considered 
the width by some.

Maybe I'm missing something but the lights are only 2' wide and are not an 
obstruction based on the section you have mentioned below.  I don't think you 
have any issue here.

I have a situation where I have an open ceiling tiled hallway and there are 2' 
x 4' light fixtures. According to NFPA-13 (2007) Sec. 8.6.5.3.3 it seems I need 
Coverage under a 4' wide fixed obstruction. My sprinklers are 5'
above the lights. Do they need to have ceiling tiles in place around it or is 
there a solution I am missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
