I think the confusion on his part is that he thinks they are a more "robust" sprinkler. I am going to send him the Viking paper on institutional sprinklers for him to review. Should shed some light on the subject for him.

Even being a "safety" guy it's easier for me to relate to the Delta guy than these folks trying to mitigate against all events. Certainly there have been college kids that have committed suicide and others that have gotten into fights with homemade weapons that have resulted in serious injury or death. Is this a statistically significant enough number to warrant using very expensive heads (that as George points out are not designed for the type of construction typically found in a frat house) designed for populations that do have a statistically significant number that regularly engage in one or both of these activities? Seems like 75% of what we do these days is driven by unlikely what ifs, but that if they do occur, might provide opportunities for litigation. I think I'm going to start crazy political or religious tracts (I haven't decided which yet) and hawk them on street corners. Worked for Paine and Luther. I might even spark some sort of revolution that inspires us to get back to seeing the danger of life as a challenge and fun rather than a dark forest full of lions and tigers, oh my! that we need to escape from. I think most modern Americans ought to just go to the rest home where Grandpa Simpson is at about twenty. Got to go to work and provide a safe environment for my students.
