I had to flow heads in the pit, intake plenum, exhaust duct, etc. except the
mixing room when i used to design the spray booths for Blowtherm. That's what
the A.H.J. usually required. I was able to get a compromise with them allowing
me to use different orifice sizes in different areas of the booth so as not to
have to install a 6" riser for all the overage.

The duct or the spray booth? just figure all.

OK, but there are two items that I have heard of, but can't find a reference
for: 1) the requirement for a sprinkler within 3 ft of the duct passing to
the outside, and 2) using pendent sprinklers in the vertical position on
 vertical runs of duct.

Also, there is the nebulous statement "the water supply shall be sufficient
to supply all sprinklers likely to open in any one fire incident..." How
does one go about determining the number of sprinklers likely to open that
would be reasonable and satisfy the AHJ as well as the attorney for the
 plaintiff?
