Doesn't 7.2.2 (3) essentially limit you to (2) hose valves per pressure
reducing device?

Use a pressure reducing valve manifold on the discharge main in
accordance with 7.2.2.

The foregoing is my opinion only and does not necessarily represent the
opinion or intent of the NFPA 14 Technical Committee on Standpipe and
Hose Systems.

Subject: Manual vs Auto SP

What do you do with an existing SP system that far exceed the pressure
requirement when performing calcs...nearly 200 psi over the curve due to
the
fact that you are flowing 1,250 gpm through 4" pipe.

The owner wants to classify the system as MANUAL and utilize a FD to
feed
the system but leave the fire pump connected. The system still does not
work when using only the FDC feeding the system due to the fact that the
FD
only plans to utilize 2 each 2-1/2" hose to connect to the FDC.

The owner - a large Federal Entity - wants to make this a HYBRID system
utilizing the Fire Pump and the FDC combined. I can't find a correct way
to
do this...thoughts?
