Appreciate the on and off forum encouragement. I've gotta share a quick funny story about sweating the small stuff that happened during a rather critical time in my life:
Back in Jan/Feb, we'd gotten into a COR p-ing contest with a GC's PM named Sunil. That's the punch line, so remember it! It got a little over the line, but we've done millions of dollars' worth of work for his firm, and he's a new guy, so we thought we could get away with a little extra pushing, knowing we had a track record with his bosses going back to the Red Sea parting. Twenty minutes after I arrived at Geisinger Medical Center via Life Flight, I've cleared the ER and I'm in the Cath Lab with the cardiologist and his team who are ready to drain 2.7 liters of fluid off my heart so I can breath and my heart can pump. The cardiologist's last words to me were "Mr Church, we'd normally not start this procedure with your blood pressure so low, but relieving the fluid will enable your heart to pump and raise it. If that's not enough, well, we'll worry about that in 20 minutes." i.e., it was time to drain this stuff before it killed me. So I turn to the guy about to stick a needle thru my ribs to actually drain the fluid, and ask his name. "Sunil" he replied. I made a mental note not to EVER get into p-ing contests with anyone over a couple grand and God Bless ALL the Sunils walking the Earth. Upon my return, I relayed my desire to not sweat the small stuff on CORs to Kevin and the gang, and Sunil's boss heard the story when he called to see how I was doing. He also got a great chuckle out of it. While I was in the hospital all the COR stuff had been worked out to mutual agreement. In the big picture, the representative of a GC that has given you >$5m in good work is right when it only involves a couple grand. Life's too short, spend more time with your loved ones and less tilting at windmills. Ask the guy with saddle sores who can see clearly now that a really big hammer knocked the logs out of his eyes so he could see the big picture. This took place after the ER doctor at the original hospital that called Life Flight was concerned I'd die in the five minute chopper ride, so put stuff in perspective before you waste a lot of time on it!
