Matt,

Check page 9-39 of IBC 2012. There is clarification of requirement for
automatic and manual standpipe. There has been confusion in past additions.
If you do not have IBC 2012 let me know.

Brad

The city of Henderson, NV has ordinance that classifies mid-rise buildings
as high-rise for purposes of standpipe water supplies, but not sure if there
are any other such requirements out there. What's the stated intent or
reasoning?

I am looking at a project where the AHJ may potentially require an automatic
standpipe (fire pump) in a non high-rise building.(city water is adequate
for fire sprinkler system)

Is this fairly common/has anyone else come across it?
