As K.I.S.S. resources, I'm not sure it's that difficult, once you understand the process and the ASCE 7 standard it's pretty straightforward. There is utility software out there to calculated the force factor that you need to start with and for calculating the brace assemblies. Contact Tolco or Afcon (those are two that I know of, there may be more from other manufacturers) regarding their calc programs; go to USGS to download a force factor program. Personally, I think the best "EQB For Dummies" primer you can find is probably Annex E of NFPA 13, 2013 edition.
