Drive screws? Lags are no longer allowed because they pull out. Drive screws 
are ... negligent, arguably.

Forest - all I can say about your spacing template is that it's five editions 
old and any BO that accepts it isn't doing the due diligence.

We have jurisdictions in AZ that require what we call "feel good bracing".  No 
calc's required, use drive screws to attach brace from 8" pipe to wood 2x6 at 
the roof. A little different from the hoops we jump through for OSHPAD in CA.

That doesn't work in seismic zones Forest. That's sway bracing, not seismic 
bracing.
